The Fate Accessibility Toolkit is a new toolkit for Fate Core that brings disabled characters into your game and supports disabled players at your table. We've assembled a team of communities with disabilities to make sure this book speaks to you from their real, lived experiences.

You'll also want a copy of Fate Core or Fate Accelerated to play; that said, we offer plenty of advice and perspectives that you can use with any gaming system!

In the Fate Accessibility Toolkit you will find:

*An exploration of the challenges and experiences faced by people with a variety of physical and mental disabilities, in their own words.
*Advice on how to play characters with disabilities compassionately and respectfully, as well as strategies for welcoming disabled players to your gaming table.
*Discussion of specific disabilities including blindness, D/deafness and hard of hearing, mobility issues, dwarfism, chronic illness, autism, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolarity and PTSD.
*Options for representing disabilities in the Fate system, using a mix of aspects, stunts and conditions, and including an exploration of adaptive devices available to characters in different environments.
*Appendices focused on creating safe spaces at your table, an ASL reference for common RPG terms, and a large print character sheet for Fate Core.

This is the prototype edition of the Fate Accessibility Toolkit. What does that mean?

TL;DR: There is no art depicted in the Toolkit, but selling this will help us get art, and once we do have art, we will upgrade your PDF to a PDF with art at no extra cost.

The Fate Accessibility Toolkit has been in development at Evil Hat for several years. In that time we went through a number of transitions. By the end of 2018, Evil Hat realized it was over-extensive and needed to slim down its product offerings for the year ahead. You can read more about this in our public blog post from back then, which you can find here.

Despite some financial turbulence, we remained committed to Fate Accessibility. The book's mission statement was too important for us to consider canceling it. We knew we could make sure that the game's text would at least be completed, and we knew we could make that text available to the public if all other avenues failed.

So for the Fate Accessibility Toolkit, we're going to do a "Prototype Edition" release. While there is currently no budget to create the art (let alone put the book into print), we can now make the contents of the book available to you. So with that in mind, we'll be selling Fate Accessibility in this art-free form (the gray rectangles in the text are placeholders for any artwork) until it generates enough revenue to pay for the missing art budget (which will probably require several hundred sales as a starting point).

Once we have that, we can commission the art and at least provide a final version of the book in electronic form. (When that happy event comes, we'll upgrade all purchases of the Prototype Edition PDF to the full final PDF version at no extra cost.)

Whether or not the book will be printed, who knows? At least if we get the budget for art, we can see if we can make it available as a print-on-demand title here on DriveThruRPG. If the interest is high, we can move on. Your purchase is your vote! (And thanks for your support.)
